After his initial appearance and not-guilty plea, the judge has already set a next hearing for March 17, 2026. In that session, the court will likely address scheduling and procedural matters, including deadlines for filings from both the defense and prosecution.

Maduro’s primary lawyer in the U.S. federal case is Barry J. Pollack, a highly experienced U.S. criminal defense attorney. Pollack has a long track record in high-profile defense cases, including representing WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in U.S. proceedings. Additionally, Mark Donnelly — a Houston-based defense lawyer and former U.S. federal prosecutor — is representing Maduro’s wife, Cilia Flores, in the U.S. proceedings.
